Science and Definition

The philosophy of science is supposed to be derived from a course in science. The inferences to be drawn do not usually arise. Definition is a scientific or behavioral operation. Laws of humans and nature require good science to formulate the precepts that are to govern us. Democracy and science are processes, due process. Our society is not well grounded in that. It will be a process of social evolution away from miracle and magic and supernatural power.

I am amazed many times when politicians, mayors, university presidents, or THE president, et al, show little to no familiarity with the literature of the freedom of speech. They seem never to have read a Supreme Court decision on the First Ammendment or to be of a mind to follow its precepts. Most, I must conclude, do not know the whole truth of what makes the U.S. great, often voting for measures and people which are against the best long term interests of this society.

Olympias, with the power of life and death, becomes arbitrary at her moment of choice. Her mind is made up by prejudgment. She made an enforced show of "all things considered". Chauvin acts upon a passion for his idea of what was, but is no more, and cannot be revived. From Darwinism: he is like the moth that is suddenly vulnerable because its environment has changed and it hasn't. Chauvin goes with an artificial environment in which his family has no place; they are left to their inconsolable pain, the victims of the father's ideology. (Think of all the contemporary parrallels!)
