About The Author of Chauvin & Olympias

John Deethardt has directed plays, taught theatre arts and communication, and directed and acted in community theatre.

He has written two librettos for operas. Olympias is a considerable enlargement of a short chamber opera, and Chauvin is a grand opera in its first incarnation. The composer is Malcolm J. Hill of Bath, England. Both texts are now available for world premieres.

Personal

He attended Indiana University and Northwestern University, where he earned the master's and doctoral degrees. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe.

After a brief period of secondary-school teaching, he held positions at Northwestern University, the University of Southern Colorado, and Texas Tech University.

He was named Emeritus Professor, Texas Tech University.
